Cycling mobility and gender: An intersectional feminist analysis

This report provides an initial diagnosis of sustainable cycling mobility from a feminist perspective, as part of a commitment to public policies grounded in listening and dialogue with social organizations to identify the specific needs of women.

The aim of this document is to offer conceptual and analytical tools to understand gender inequalities in bicycle use, as well as to explore the impact of other variables that may generate gaps and situations of multiple discrimination, from an intersectional feminist perspective.

Although there were already some previous studies on mobility that included a gender perspective, very few specifically addressed cycling mobility. This report seeks to delve deeper into the causes of the “non-use” of bicycles, especially among women, with the aim of identifying barriers and proposing measures to promote a more inclusive and equitable cycling mobility.
