The Community Care Network project aims to promote, support, and strengthen community care networks across Catalonia. It incorporates a collective, feminist, and co-responsible perspective on care, with the goal of democratizing care and breaking the inequalities caused by its unequal distribution.
A community care network is an initiative formed by individuals and groups who organize themselves to share spaces, management, and time for care—both self-care and care for others and the environment—creating a social structure of mutual support within a local area. It is a collective way to sustain life, placing care at the center and seeking a fairer social organization of care.
We have worked with three already active networks — Roquetes, Mediona, and El Clot — to analyze their current state, identify needs and challenges, and design support proposals adapted to each context. In addition, we have reviewed and systematized the methodology used so far for building and consolidating Community Care Networks, in order to make it more useful and replicable.
This project has been developed with the support of the 2023 call for grants for organizations working in the field of social policies, from the Department of Equality and Feminisms of the Generitat de Catalunya.
