The everyday/everynight life of women nightshift workers in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
We have used the methodology of feminist participatory action-research in order to make it a collective project, in its elaboration and authorship. The methodology of the project has encouraged the women involved to decide how we want to present the results and make visible the collective work we have done during this time.
The report first includes a review of the literature and studies related to nighttime urban planning, followed by a description of the project, the objectives, the methodological framework, the research team, the phases of the project, as well as the participatory tools for data collection and analysis. Chapter four presents the main results, where we discuss the impacts of gender on night work and the impacts of night work on women’s everyday/everynight lives, specifically on elements of urban planning such as mobility and safety, but also on the impacts on health and social relations. The report ends with a set of proposals for actions that have been developed collectively and addressed to the administrations, institutions and agents involved in urban planning, mobility and transport agencies, and labor rights in the AMB region so that they can incorporate them into their programs and policies.
