Client: Equality Department of the Amurrio City Council
The project consists of a participatory safety assessment in the municipality of Amurrio from a feminist perspective, based on the implementation of exploratory walks to identify the physical, relational, and social factors that shape the perception of safety among women and adolescent girls.
To carry out the diagnosis, various methodologies were used, including mapping workshops with local women and adolescent girls, participant observation sessions, and three exploratory walks with itineraries selected to showcase diverse urban conditions and facilitate participation at different times of day.
The results highlighted the need to improve the sports offering to better meet the expectations of women; address the imbalance in the distribution of facilities and services, reinforced by the lack of sustainable and active mobility options between neighbourhoods; and make sustainable mobility a real alternative through continuous routes, adequate lighting, clear signage, and the incorporation of basic services such as toilets at stations and inside train carriages among others.
