This project involved supporting the Local Mobility and Road Safety Office of the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Moià City Council in integrating a gender perspective into the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS).
The work included reviewing the technical diagnosis, designing and facilitating the participatory process to collect qualitative data, developing collective proposals, reviewing the final document, and providing ongoing guidance and support to the drafting team.
The aim was to incorporate an intersectional feminist perspective into mobility planning, promoting a paradigm shift: from a model centered on private motorized vehicles to one based on people’s everyday lives, prioritizing sustainable mobility —walking, cycling, and public transport— in a more equitable and healthy way. This perspective makes it possible to analyze how gender roles and other factors —such as age, origin, income, abilities, household type, or neighborhood— shape mobility options.
The participatory process was part of the pilot test of the Guide to Integrate a Gender Perspective into Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (PMUS), developed by Col·lectiu Punt 6 for the ATM and the Barcelona Provincial Council. The results complement the technical diagnosis and culminate in a study with cartography and proposals to improve mobility in Moià, grouped according to modes of transport and based on citizen and technical contributions.
