The project focuses on gathering improvement proposals for Plaça Sóller to incorporate them into the urban transformation process and to continue the participatory work initiated with organisations and associations from the Porta neighbourhood. The main objective is to ensure that the renewal of the square responds to the needs, expectations, and everyday experiences of the community that uses it.
To develop the project, coordination work was carried out with entities linked to the life of the square —Ateneu La Bòbila, Palma de Mallorca Primary School, Deià Design School, and the Im-porta Market Ágora— and a community communication process was launched, including graphic materials and door-to-door outreach, to encourage neighbourhood participation. The participatory activities included a session at CEIP Palma de Mallorca and a playful, festive participatory event open to the residents of Plaça Sóller, using methodologies adapted to a diverse audience.
The results gathered from the school focused on the everyday experience of the square as a space for play, gathering, and community interaction, as well as on expectations shaped through imagination and desire. Contributions from the neighbourhood event centred on three key aspects of daily life: uses over time; the square as a space integrated within the neighbourhood and its relationship with the surrounding environment; and the need to improve its architecture, green spaces, and urban furniture.
