Year 2024
Funding: 2024 Activity Grants Call, Barcelona City Council
In collaboration with: Biciclot

The project focuses on the management, maintenance, and promotion of the Feminist Cargo Bike Float La ManiCargui, a device created as part of the projects “Women and Non-Binary People on Bicycles” and “Pedaling Together for Sustainable and Feminist Mobility.” The project is part of the 2024 activity grants call of the Barcelona City Council and involves Col·lectiu Punt 6 and Biciclot, with the collaboration of Bicihub, Ca la Dona, Cícliques, and La Insòlita.
The aim of the project is to ensure the continuity of the ManiCargui and to strengthen its use in cultural, social, and activist activities, promoting decarbonization during large-scale events from a feminist perspective. The project also seeks to highlight and reinforce the participation of women and non-binary people in the use and promotion of the bicycle as a tool for sustainable mobility.
Throughout 2024, several training and engagement activities were carried out, such as a workshop to learn how to ride the cargo bike and specific workshops on ManiCargui components, focused on assembling the sound system and performing mechanical maintenance. These activities were complemented by coordination tasks and ongoing maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of the bicycle.
The results of the project include the completion of all planned maintenance and engagement activities, as well as active participation in the 8M and 25N protest marchs. The full setup of the ManiCargui and its sound system was carried out for both mobilizations, and workshops were held that enabled more participants to gain skills in riding the cargo bike and maintaining its mechanical and sound components. This work has consolidated the ManiCargui as a collective, feminist, and sustainable tool for social mobilization.
